Lecturer-Clinical Medical Assistant/Medical Billing & Coding Specialist Program (Academic Year 2024-2025)

Position Summary: The Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) within the School of Professional Studies invites part-time faculty Lecturer candidates to teach in one or more of the following certification programs:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
  • Prepare and execute timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  • Effectively translate subject matter expertise to engage and educate students through active learning.
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn and answer their questions (physically and/or electronically).
  • Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach in-person or online classes, as needed;
  • Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching;
  • Ability to actively engage students in the learning process;
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections as needed;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education: Associate’s Degree in relevant medical discipline. Note that certificate program graduate and extensive experience in a relevant field will be considered in lieu of Associate’s Degree.

Required Work Experience: Five (5) years of professional-level experience in relevant field.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations: Medical certification in relevant field of expertise.

Work Hours: Based on the course assignment. Note that some courses may be held Monday through Saturday.

Position End Date (if temporary): 05/31/2025

Salary: $150-267 per student for online instruction.
