The Medical Assistantposition is responsible to Clinic Management and Bell Physician Practiceclients for providing professional clinical and clerical services. Clinicalresponsibilities will be within the scope of training and under the supervision(direct or indirect) of clinic management, clinic nurse and the assignedclinical provider. Position will adhere to professional standards set forth forMedical Assistants and Bell Physician Practice policies.
Followsestablished policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, andsensitivity to confidential information.
Registerspatients, verifies and updates necessary information in medical record, andcollects co-pays as appropriate.
Maintainsappointment schedule and follows office scheduling policies.
Processes incomingand outgoing mail.
Performs generalpatient care, Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordancewith standards of care.
Aids providerduring patient examination, testing, and treatment.
Maintains timelyflow of patient appointments.
Greets patientsand prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriateinformation and documents all information in the Electronic Medical Records(EMR) System.
Arranges forpatient testing and procedures and instructs the patient in their procedures asappropriate.
Responds to andrefers incoming telephone calls and follows through to ensure client requestshave been answered.
Provides patienteducation for health promotion and disease prevention programs, treatment plansas prescribed and other educational requirements that may be required.
Coordinatespatient care with other departments within Bell and with other community healthcare agencies.
Prepares examrooms and treatment areas, including the re-stocking and ordering ofappropriate supplies.
Attends meetingsand in-service training as required and maintains an active professionallicense.
Completes annualeducational requirements.
Maintainsconfidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support the cultureof service excellence throughout the organization.
Actively seek waysto demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate inprofessional development opportunities.
Maintainscertification in drug collection including urine, hair and breath alcoholtesting.
Maintainscertification in audiometric testing, respiratory fit mask and pulmonaryfunction testing.
Maintains clinicfiles in a professional organized manner.
Coordinates andfollows through on billing issues with clients and accounting.
Acts as schedulingcoordinator for clinic functions including appointment scheduling.
Performs otherrelated duties as assigned or requested.
