The Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients via venipuncture and/or finger punctures
Essential FunctionsAssists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens. Rotates and Maintains adequate stock of supplies Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner. Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, faxing and filing. Ensures all heel, and port charges are given to manager Ensures all STATs, and TIMED draws are collectedly on time and all routine draws are collected reasonably manner. Ensures transfer of documents to Lab Corp and sending appropriate amount of sample for reference testing Assist Emergency Department with all phlebotomy, especially stat Troponin testing Performs the tuberculin skin test (also called a Mantoux tuberculin test) on new hires. Perform eScreen Drug of Abuse DOT and Non DOT testing. Assist techs with Dipoing urines for Urinalysis, set up microbiology plates when indicated, set up Streptococcus Screens, Influenza, RSV, and Urine HCGs.
