Lead Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist
Lead Medical Assistant oversees the management of patient care of the Center and supervises center Medical Assistants. Plans coordinates, directs and evaluates the management of patient care and staff to achieve high quality care. Interacts with all levels of personnel and other departments to assure effective utilization of resources that meet the physiological and safety needs of the patient and their families.
Two years experience as Medical Assistant
Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write and speak English

Orientation & Training in the CAC Florida Medical Centers’ Policies & Procedures
Requires a Medical Assistant Certification from: American Association of Medical Assistant, National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, American Medical Technologist, National Center for Competency Testing, and/or National Association of Healthcare Technicians.
Active CPR – preferred
Phlebotomy Certification required

Able to respect and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Ability to follow policies and procedures and work flexible schedules and locations.
Ability to develop a strong relationship with medical staff, peers, patients and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists physician in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care; and coordinates patient care provided by other disciplines, which meet the physiological and safety needs of the patient and their families.
Provides direct patient care plans and administers prescribed mediation, except IV medications. Participates in the formulation, implementation, and interpretation of clinical policies and procedures.
Promotes adherence to facility and clinical policies and procedures.
Assures that emergency procedures are instituted to personnel and carried out (i.e. fire drills, disaster drills, etc.)
Reviews plan of care to the patient to maintain the ongoing nursing process that includes assessment, intervention, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
Ensures adequate care and patient satisfaction.
Supervise, prepares and conducts monthly HEDIS reports/measures.
Prepares reviews and evaluates the schedule of clinical personnel and takes appropriate action to assure optimal patient care.
Counsel’s staff in matters pertaining to clinic facility policy and procedure and disciplines when necessary according to facility rules and regulations.
Provides assistance and direction to clinical personnel in assessing patient, families and needs. Participates in the interviewing selection and upgrading of nursing personnel in conjunction with the center’s Administrator.
Submits and gives report to the Director of Nursing and Administration on any unusual events. Assures that Infection Control and OSHA regulations are implemented at the center.
Orients Medical Assistants.
Performs proficiently in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
Communicates patient care through accurate and legible documentation.
Maintain effective and efficient use of equipment and supplies.
Performs related duties, when assigned and/or when needed.
Shares professional knowledge and learning with other team members.
Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities for self-growth and career advancement. Respects the dignity and confidentiality of patients, serving as an advocate and providing a clean, secure and quiet environment.
Is reliable in punctuality and attendance.
Employs cost effective measures in using and ordering equipment and supplies.
Maintains or delegate properly, logs and follow up on patients (i.e. coumadin, abnormal mammograms, colonoscopies, biopsies on pap smears).
Attends to meetings as required. Flexible to changes in work schedule and location as needed by the organization.
