Nurse - RN Rapid Resp FT

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Evaluate site needs based on audit of each individual record and develop plan to complete nursing needs based on priority.
  • Communicate with local Regional Director of Nursing and keep Chief Nursing Officer informed on outstanding items and timeline needed to complete.
  • Support local areas and then transition clinical cases to incoming staff.
  • Communicate with Regional Director of Nursing Services on site needs, expected time requirement needed, and any additional resources needed.
  • Alerts all parties of any clinical practices that need to be investigated.
  • Provide individualized nursing care as needed in accordance with state guidelines and current nursing standards of care, including but not limited to administering and monitoring medications for efficacy, adverse effects, precautions, contraindications and potential interactions with other medications as well as monitoring vital signs and the overall health status of the consumers.
  • Maintain medical records to reflect timely, accurate, legible and complete documentation.
  • Communicate with family and ancillary services associate with care of individuals supported.
  • Provide training as needed to individuals supported, staff, family members, guardians or other significant persons based on needs.
  • Document and report all significant concerns or changes in individuals supported health condition to the proper personnel.
  • Ensure that all medical and adaptive equipment continue to be appropriate and safe working order, reporting all defects immediately to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure that all medical and therapy appointments are scheduled and completed as needed.
  • Ensure that all physician orders are current and received in a timely manner according to standards or practice.
  • Supervise assigned LVN(s) and LPN(s) regarding their clinical practice as required by the BON rules. Meet the assigned LVN(s) and LPN(s) to ensure familiarity with the current regulations and nursing practice for each program.
  • Record all travel expenses and turn in monthly with receipts for reimbursement.
  • Be available for mandatory on-call rotation which includes 24-hour availability (via telephone) and in-person during office hours, unless other arrangements can be made.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to relate well with individuals supported, families, other program staff and medical professionals.
  • Ability to safely and accurately assess and care for individuals supported with medical and mental disabilities and to recognize and report any noted concerns.
  • Must be able and willing to provide supports for individuals supported with potential aggressive behaviors.
  • Ability to be calm in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written direction.
  • Must be able to adjust in changing priorities and the various details of the job.
  • Must maintain a punctual and good attendance record.
  • Other reasonably related duties that may or may not be required on a routine basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job as described in the essential duties and responsibilities sections including; walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, sitting, reaching overhead and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to safely lift, transport, and transfer individuals supported, which may include but not be limited to lifting and transferring in and out of a bathtub, vehicle, bed or wheelchair, as appropriate and needed to assist with the consumer’s assisted daily living skills. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current nursing licensure
  • One year of clinical practice preferred.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or in a related field, preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, if applicable.
  • Must be 25 years of age to transport consumers unless otherwise authorized.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (read, write and understand) in English.
  • Must have good record keeping skills.
  • Criminal history must meet or exceed company standards at the time of hire and be maintained at this level throughout employment.
  • Must be willing and able to submit to random drug testing throughout employment with good results.
