The Nursing Assistant must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Licensure/Certification: CNA and American Heart Association BLS (required); In lieu of certification, must have completed 1 semester of education in an accredited ADN or BSN program
- Experience: Nursing Assistant experience (preferred)
The Nursing Assistant's responsibilities include:
Demonstrating compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and taking action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
Accurately obtaining vital signs: Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, Blood Pressure, and Pain level.
Documenting and communicating abnormal values and changing to RN per policy.
Performing AM and HS hygiene per standard.
Appropriately positioning and ambulating patients as per care plan.
Accurately documenting Intake and Output and daily weights and communicates to RN.
Assisting with set up and/or feedings of patients.
Assisting nurse with re-positioning, ambulating, transporting, and other care as directed.
Communicating with nurse/ co-workers prior to leaving unit for any reasons.
Assisting with equipment storage, retrieval and procedure cart restocking as directed.
Observing all isolation procedures and regulations.
Accurately performing duties assigned by and under the supervision of the RN.
Providing safe patient environment at all times.
Staying with patient who may be in danger of falling or hurting himself.
Correctly identifying patient by use of armband.
Call bell within reach.
Application of restraints.
Communicating observations of patient condition changes to Nurse.
Adhering to guidelines for change of shift report from assigned RN.
Performing patient rounds at least every hour.
Completing documentation accurately as per policy.
Maintaining general tidiness of patient room.
