The Oncology Director directs, develops and manages all functions within the Sovah Health Danville Oncology service line and associated areas as assigned. The director establishes effective strategies for medical and radiation oncology programs and physician integration and resource utilization with the goal of and accountability for enhancing oncology service line growth (aligned to Sovah’s strategic plan), efficiency, and patient experience and provides oversight and supervision of Market Tumor Registry Program. Strategizes, plans and prioritizes investments in advanced clinical technologies and human resources based on established strategic plan. Facilitates and executes Quality Assurance and accreditation compliance requirements for oncology services according to hospital policy and accrediting agency standards. Performs clinical duties within the oncology service line and other incidental work as assigned.
Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree in business administration or its equivalent or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science required. Master’s in Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a busy and stressful environment and take appropriate action related to resource utilization, physician relations, and product/service line operations. Licensed as a registered nurse or registered as a Radiologic Technologist; basic computer skills required, membership and participation in local, state, and national professional societies/associations preferred. Possesses excellent qualities in problem solving, communication, adaptability, attitude, and organization.Typical physical demands: Full range of motion of upper and lower extremities. Moving and/or lifting patients and equipment up to 50 pounds and pushing equipment >100 pounds. Normal dexterity and hand eye coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges. Standing and/or walking for extensive periods of time. Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids which require the use of isolation precautions. Certification: Registered or Registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, certification and registration in Radiation Therapy or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) or other oncology specialty certification.
Licenses:Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or Compact State if applicable.
