Under the general direction of the Radiology Supervisor the PACS administrator/radiologic technologist practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts using equipment and accessories and employs procedures and techniques appropriately. Will assume leadership responsibility for the management and support of all information systems within the radiology department, act as a liaison with information systems, network services, user support and hardware/software vendors. Work with ancillary departments and physician offices to facilitate system operations. Perform software product evaluations, analysis, and design for interdepartmental systems projects. Plan coordinate, and manage system implementations, upgrades, and changes. Responsible for maintaining the highest level of service to the customer and ensuring a customer friendly environment. Acts as a PACS resource across the facility. The technologist acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the Scope of Practice for the profession. Utilizes expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self and other members of the health care team.
