Pediatrician

Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. This is a medical position with the responsibility for the specialty of medical science concerned with the physical, emotional, and social health of children from birth to young adulthood.
  2. Pediatric care encompasses a broad spectrum of health services ranging from preventive health care to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
  3. The Pediatrician works closely with the Center's Medical Director, Primary Care Administrator and management of the Corporation to ensure that competent pediatric patient care is provided to our patients.
  4. The Pediatrician must be competent in the areas of patient care; medical knowledge; interpersonal and communication skills; professionalism; practice-based learning and improvement; and systems-based practices.
  5. The physician must have the welfare of their patients and parents as their primary concern.
  6. The pediatrician will be responsible to assess, treat and maintained the health condition of children/adolescent serviced in the primary health care facility.

EXAMPLE OF ACTUAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Critically evaluate and use current medical information and scientific evidence for patient care.
  2. Gather essential and accurate information; perform a complete history and physical examination; provide routine preventive health services; and order appropriate diagnostic studies.
  3. Make informed diagnostic and treatment decisions; analyze and synthesize information; know one's limits of knowledge and expertise and obtain appropriate consultation as needed.
  4. Provide basic health services including primary care; including orders for diagnostic laboratory and radiology services; preventive services; cancer and other disease screening; well child services; immunizations against vaccine-preventable diseases; eye, ear and dental screening; pharmaceutical services, as appropriate.
  5. Assess the need and recommend case management services.
  6. Prescribe and perform procedures on a timely manner.
  7. Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective exchange of information, collaboration with patients, their families, and professional associates.
  8. Demonstrate a commitment to carry out professional responsibilities. Adhere to ethical principles and demonstrate sensitivity to diversity.

  • Investigate and evaluate patient care practices, appraise and assimilate scientific evidence, and use evidence to improve patient management. (No the doctor, should be the Medical Director) ???
  1. Practice and provide quality health care that is cost-effective and advocate for patients within the health-care system. (Case Management function, and Administrative decisions such UR, QI and Medical Director)
  2. Convey respect for the patient's/family's values and demonstrate integrity, compassion, sensitivity to the patient's and parent's perception of illness, acceptance of professional responsibility, and appropriate professional attitudes and behaviors towards the patient, their parents/legal custodians, and colleagues. Its sounds as case management responsibility.
  3. Define accurately the child's health status as well as to serve as a consultant and to make use of other specialists as consultants. (Same as no. 2)

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all trading partner and business associate agreements. (Medical Director responsibility, the pediatrician may help as needed.
  1. Work cooperatively with the Medical Director, the Primary Health Care Administrator and other applicable organization departments with all issues regarding pediatric care, confidentiality issues and with protected health information.
  2. Comply with CHN's referral arrangements with hospitals, specialty, medical, diagnostic and therapeutic providers.
  3. Comply with the clinical protocols and current guidelines established by health agencies or professional organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Board of Pediatrics and the Advisory Committee of Immunization Practices.
  4. Maintain clinical records in compliance with agency, state, federal, Joint Commission, Medicaid, and other standards, guidelines and regulations.
  5. Participate in the peer review process, as requested.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Medical Degree from an accredited college program
  2. Completion of an approved pediatrics residency program.
  3. Board certification or board eligible in child and adolescent practices
  4. Evidence of current Professional License, DEA Registration.
  5. Certificates, and other trainings requirements: HIV/AIDS 104 Basic Training Education

SPECIAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must use sound clinical judgment; possess humanistic qualities; have a professional attitude; demonstrate moral and ethical behavior; must be able to use compassion and creativity in reaching solutions to the problems presented; must be willing to learn.
  2. CPR, Medical Errors, Domestic Violence and necessary trainings requirements to maintain the professional license.
  3. Demonstrate competence in accordance with established medical standards involving the pediatric discipline that deals with the biological, social, and environmental influences on the developing child and with their impact of disease and dysfunction on development.
  4. Demonstrate understanding with the constantly changing functional status of his/her patients' incident to growth and development and the consequent changing
  5. Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective exchange of information, collaboration with patients, their families, and professional associates.
  6. Demonstrate a commitment to carry out professional responsibilities. Adhere to ethical principles and demonstrate sensitivity to diversity.
  7.
