Essential Functions
Function as astaff or charge nurse.
Supervise andcoordinate care in a manner to ensure that patient needs are provided in anefficient manner and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Possess theknowledge to safely apply theory and practice when providing, planning andassigning nursing care.
Ability toproblem-solve effectively to provide quality patient care.
Provide excellentcustomer service including patient education.
Ability to workwith all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults andgeriatric patients.
Ability to workwith Paragon applications (computer system).
Possess theknowledge to use PYXIS medication delivery system.
Ability to useGRASP acuity system.
Education – Usesthe nursing process to meet patient/family learning needs.
Professionalism –Applies knowledge to practice through participation in performance improvementactivities and application of nursing research.
Consistentlycommunicates to co-workers, medical staff, ancillary departments and customersto promote a collaborative and cooperative environment.
Reliability –Ensures completion of assigned workloads and moves to unassigned work at owninitiative.
Other duties, asdesignated by the Director of Medical/Surgical Services, Coordinator ofMedical/Surgical Services, supervisor, or CNO.
Functional Demands
Work requiresphysical ability such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting heavyobjects/patients (patients 300+ pounds), stooping and climbing stairs.
Walkingintermittently through halls of hospital and outside.
May be exposed tobad weather when escorting a discharged patient to their vehicle.
Involves mentalactivity and problem-solving, to include the ability to implement solutions.
May be exposed toinjury by irrational or disturbed patients, patients with communicablediseases, and/or potentially dangerous equipment.
Risk of exposureto infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
Exposure to blood,body fluid and hazardous wastes is moderate to frequent and must carry outuniversal precautions according to hospital policy.
Bending requiredfrequently, 45-90 degree angles, to check patients, to operate machinery.
Speech, hearing,reading, writing and visual acuity necessary in order to perform jobrequirements.
