STNA Personal Care Specialist Inpatient Unit (ICC) (PRN)

Job Description

Hospice of Central Ohio is a growing health care company seeking a (PRN) Hospice aide (STNA) for our inpatient unit, located on the 6th floor of Licking Memorial Hospital. If you enjoy working with people, are proactive and have the desire to impact lives, this is your job!

The hospice aide is a member of the interdisciplinary team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patients personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed.

Duties

Providing or assisting with personal care, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, hair care, feeding, transfers and exercises based on plan of care.

Documentation is entered into the electronic medical record at the point of care.

Job Requirements

STNA with Ohio certification

CHPNA certification required or after two years of employment

High School Diploma or GED

At least 18 years of age

Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given

Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill

Satisfactory references from previous employers

Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Secure with issues of death and dying. Provides a calm manner when in a patient's home

Understands boundaries and scope of practice

Competency in information technology

Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired

Nicotine-free

Valid driver's license, state minimum auto coverage and a safe driving record. A safe driving record is defined as no more than 3 moving violations or more than one chargeable accident in the past 36 months and no major convictions (drunk, drug, or reckless driving) within the past 7 years.
