SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR III

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Systems Administrator III.
Summary


The Administrator Systems III will under the direction of the Director of Systems and Databases will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining operating systems, backups, storage, virtualization, and other components in support of business processing requirements. They will also be responsible for the care, upgrades, patching, and security of the operating systems and layered software packages.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for administration and support of EVPS information systems running Linux (Ubuntu and RHEL) operating systems.
  • Responsible for administration and support of backup systems and software. Develop and implement effective backup strategies for Enterprise Systems.
  • Responsible for the administration and support of storage arrays and SAN network. 
  • Trouble shooting and problem resolution of EVPS systems for training, development, and production environments. Provide remote support as needed.
  • Responsible for administration and support of system security, including access, virus management (for storage) and security patch management.
  • Responsible for implementation of software upgrades, including firmware revisions, operating systems, production and software upgrades and other enhancements as required.
  • Research new technologies and make recommendations for hardware, software, network and process/procedure improvements.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance remaining on-call evenings and weekends for emergencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for adhering to Information Security Policies and ensuring Envision is as secure as possible.


Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Related field preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in administrating Unix and Linux servicers, preferred.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Strong proficiency in Enterprise Unix and Linux systems with working knowledge of databases
  • Strong knowledge of the analysis, installation, modification and support of Unix/Linux operating systems, software, and utilities. 
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud services and management with a proven history working with AWS assets and management.
  • Competent with a proven history working with VMWare, Elasticsearch, Tableau, Splunk
  • Strong knowledge of scripting and programming in bash, perl, posix shell, as well as a high proficiency in DNS and LDAP (OpenLDAP)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, teamwork and customer support skills required. 
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux security and firewall management.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a team atmosphere. 
  • HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other critical governmental regulations.
  • EVPS business models.
  • Convey thoughts (orally and in writing) in a well-organized, concise manner. Use appropriate grammar and punctuation in written documents.
  • Perform in a consistently-organized manner with strong attention to detail.
  • Perform duties and handle large volumes of work, while working under pressure within tight time constraints, in an environment of changing and competing priorities.
  • Willingness to work on call DBA and Unix rotations in a 7x24 environment and expected to handle a mix of database management and systems responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform professional level technical documentation and presentation.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships.
  • Proficient at time and priority management.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, teamwork and customer support skills required. 
  • Working knowledge of database definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and protection
  • Excellent general computer skills including word processing (Word, Pages, etc), spreadsheet (Excel, Numbers, etc), and email (Outlook).
