Job Description

Position Function:

Develops and maintains landlord, property manager and inspector relationships that lead directly to affordable and permanent housing opportunities for families and individuals served through the Your Way Home Housing Resource Center.


Essential Job Functions:

Major highlights of the position requirements are noted below. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

  • Responsible for timely, periodic submission of all required clearances and physicals
  • Deliver meaningful, culturally competent services which connects Housing Resource Center individuals and families to permanent, safe and affordable housing
  • Develop effective relationships with landlords, property managers and inspectors in the greater Norristown area which includes negotiating rental amounts and education about the Montgomery County Your Way Home initiative
  • Collaborate with community resources such as the Montgomery County Community Connections Navicate for the greater Norristown area
  • Develop, increase and monitor the tenancy skills of Housing Resource Center individuals and families
  • Meet with the Housing Resource Center individuals and families in their housing units
  • Regularly communicate with the Your Way Home Program Manager, Call Center staff, Shelter Providers, Housing Stability Coaches and Housing Locator Specialists.
  • Actively participate in Your Way Home meetings, trainings and Learning Collaborative
  • Complete paperwork and reports in a timely and detailed manner.
  • Actively participate with individual supervision and Norristown Family Center program meetings
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of regional housing market

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable regarding Montgomery Countys housing inspection standards, child abuse prevention and risk factors, collaborative approaches and community resources
  • Ability to use initiative, act independently and effective time management
  • Strong computer skills including use of internet, email, work processing and data input
  • Valid drivers license from the state in which you reside in and proof of car insurance, daily access to vehicle.
  • Strong home visiting and personal safety skills

Training Requirements:

  • All new hires are required to go through mandated orientation.
  • Comply with Agency Annual Training requirements.
  • Part time team members training requirements will be pro rated according to the hours worked.

Work Environment and Primary Work Locations:

  • 5 week days with flexible schedule of 3 6 hours per day
  • Available a minimum of 1 weekday evening until 8 pm
  • Occasional weekend hours
  • 70% in community and/or providing in-home service
  • 20% in office
  • 10% attending community meetings and events

Physical Considerations:

  • Carrying required for transporting items to families
  • Visiting families in their home may require stair climbing
  • Ability to maintain composure in crisis situations
