Youth Worker - Part-Time

Job Description

MHA in Ulster County, Inc. has a part-time (25 hours/week) position available serving Ulster County working one on one with children as a Youth Worker. To provide temporary and specialized care working directly with youth experiencing social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. The Youth Worker will provide respite by involving the child(ren) in structured recreational and skill building activities while caring for the child in the community in absence of primary caregiver. The Youth Worker is required to document contacts in a progress note and attend scheduled respite meetings.


  • Position hours includes flexible day, early evening and weekend hours.



Responsibilities:


  • This position will provide direct care to families and their children (ages 5-18) who have social, emotional and behavioral needs.

  • Will provide the families with family support, respite by involving the children in structured recreational and skill building activities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Candidates need experience working with children and knowledge of issues that children confront.
  • Previous experience working with children with social, emotional or behavioral challenges preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Flexibility is a key requirement.
  • Position requires a clean, valid NYS drivers license and candidate must have at least 3 years driving experience with reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Ulster County.
